The recipes are healthy, delicious, simple, affordable, and easy to prepare. They feature nutrient-rich, whole foods (such as fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, legumes).

A whole food diet is the healthiest and most sustainable diet you can choose. Plant foods are emphasized, but animal foods are included in the recipe collection. To make the overall diet sustainable I encourage you to eat animal foods less often and to choose smaller portions of animal foods.

A sustainable diet can include clean and sustainably produced pasture raised meat, dairy and poultry, but in order to be truly sustainable the focus is on plant foods. Even if you cannot afford to eat 100% organic, or if you cannot find local food in season, if you are eating a plant-based diet, you are eating a sustainable diet–a diet that is healthy for both you and the planet.
